Simple 3-Ingredient Recipe My Grandma Loves to Make

There is something special about simple, homemade meals that bring comfort and remind us of family traditions. One classic example is a rustic macaroni and egg bake, a dish that combines basic ingredients to create something warm, satisfying, and full of flavor. Often passed down through generations, recipes like this show how everyday ingredients can come together to make a hearty meal. With pasta, eggs, and cheese as the main components, this dish is both budget-friendly and easy to prepare, making it perfect for families looking for a quick and comforting option at home.

The beauty of this macaroni bake lies in its balance of textures and flavors. The inside remains soft and creamy thanks to the eggs and melted cheese, while the outside develops a lightly crisp, golden layer as it cooks. This contrast makes every bite enjoyable and satisfying. Because it uses only a few ingredients and simple cooking steps, it is ideal for busy weeknights or relaxed weekend meals. Many people also enjoy serving it for brunch or lunch alongside a fresh salad or roasted vegetables, turning a modest recipe into a well-rounded meal.

To prepare this dish, start by cooking about 350 grams of macaroni in salted boiling water until tender. After draining the pasta, lightly toss it with a small amount of olive or vegetable oil to prevent sticking. In a separate bowl, beat four eggs and season them with a pinch of salt and pepper. For a slightly richer texture, a small splash of milk or cream can be added to the egg mixture. Heat a little oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then spread half of the cooked pasta evenly across the pan. Pour the egg mixture over the pasta, sprinkle grated cheese across the top, and add a layer of sliced cheese for extra flavor and creaminess.

Next, cover the mixture with the remaining pasta and reduce the heat to low. Place a lid on the pan and allow the dish to cook slowly for about ten minutes, giving the eggs time to set and the bottom layer to become lightly crisp. Once firm, carefully flip the bake using a wide spatula or by sliding it onto a plate and returning it to the pan. Cook the second side for another eight to ten minutes until golden and evenly browned. When finished, slice the macaroni bake and serve it warm. The result is a comforting, homemade dish with crisp edges, soft layers, and a classic flavor that many people associate with traditional family cooking.
