On the morning of my wedding, everything felt calm and certain. Liam and I had never believed in superstitions, so we spent the morning together, laughing over breakfast and talking about the future we were about to begin. He always made me feel safe, and I trusted the story he told about overcoming a difficult childhood and cutting ties with a mother he claimed had controlled and mistreated him.
